Cool Features in VLC Media Player Everyone should know

VLC Media Player is probably the most versatile video player.You can play almost every codec video.The features of VLC Media Player makes it different from all the available media players.You might have been using VLC Media Player for many years and being a power user, you might have discovered and used every available feature of this player at least once but something is still left.

1.Download Youtube Videos
Go to Media => Open Network Stream, paste the URL of the youtube video and click play.Under Tools , click  'Codec Information' and copy the text in the location box, then paste this link to your browser and right click the video that plays.You'll see an option for 'Save As' and then you'll know what to do.

2.Record your Desktop
If you want to make a quick tutorial video, VLC can help you out.Under 'Media' click 'Open Capture Device' and select 'Desktop' in  Capture Mode. Set the frame rate 15-30 fps and click 'Convert' in the drop down arrow menu on the Play button.Set your codecs in the tools section and select a destination for your file.Then click 'Start' carry out the tutorial and click 'Stop'

3.Convert Video
Click 'Convert/Save' under 'Media' and add file you want to 'Convert/Save' and decide the type of file you want to convert it to under 'profile'. Give it a destination and click 'Start'. Wait for the conversion and you are basically done.

4.VLC Inception Trick

Wondering what's inception here? Well, VLC Media Player can take screenshot of your current screen and keep on taking screenshots in relatively smaller size and putting on it's display panel which will provide your inception effect.To get this effect open VLC Media Player, Press Ctrl+N, Type "screen://" (without quotes) in the opened window.Click Play to see VLC inception trick

5.Listen to Internet Radio & Manage Podcasts
VLC contains in-built internet radio listings and a podcast aid to boot.Just open playlist and at the top of left sidebar, you'll find Internet Radio directory, Jamendo Selections. Click anyone to load their album and start listening them.It's free.
